5.36 _The Times They Are A Changin'
Anti-Demonstration, 2015
Vienna
Abstract
The anti-demonstration was performed on May 27th 2015.
Though “anti” does not only imply to disapprove something, infact it is susceptible to various interpretations.
Our intervention in the urban area took place on Mariahilferstrasse - Vienna's busiest shopping street - where all major corporations and international brands are located.
Dressed in clean white, we performed a silent protest march passing through this commercial interface, established between billboards and advertisements.
We wanted to reach the attention from as many people as possible yet without a readable message, to create an additional space for the recipients to foster an individual interpretation of our walk.
5.36 Is a collective of associated students and teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna!
5.36 We use white banners, posters, flags to demonstrate!
5.36 We walk the Viennese streets dressed in white to reclaim public spaces and create a resistance movement opposed to the dominance of corporate forces in globalization!
5.36 We raise our flags up high and move quietly!
5.36 Stands for 5min 36sec, the length of the protest song "The Times They Are A Changin'" by Bob Dylan!
